How Do I Obtain A Test Result?
Special Services
As a Practice we have tried to rationalize our prescribing by the use of a formulary. This means that only certain drugs are prescribed in this Practice. This allows the Doctors to have far more experience in the uses and problems associated with a limited number of drugs. It may be that at your new patient medical your drug therapy will be reviewed and altered to bring you in line with the Practice Prescribing Policy. Any change of medication does involve a period of uncertainty, through which you will be supported.
The on-call doctor may decide to interrupt his schedule to attend sudden emergencies, but there is now ample evidence that patients with conditions such as heart attacks should summon a paramedic ambulance assistance by telephoning 999, rather than delay in waiting for a doctor to attend.
On ringing the Medical Centre please listen to the message and you will be transferred to the Devon Doctors on Call service which provides emergency care. The Devon Doctors on Call Number is 0845 6710 270.
NHS Direct the 24 hour nurse led helpline can be contacted on 0845 46 47
In case of life threatening emergencies please dial 999
Home visits are for patients that are too ill or infirm to attend the Surgery. To request a home visit please telephone the Surgery before 11.00am if possible and explain the nature of the problem. The receptionist may well pass the call on to a doctor who will assess its priority.
HOW DO I OBTAIN A TEST RESULT?
The majority of results for tests that are performed in the Surgery, or x-rays arranged by the Practice are available usually within a week. If the doctor has advised you to ring up for the results then he will have authorised the receptionist either to tell you that the result is normal, or that you need to make an appointment to discuss the results. Because of confidentiality we are unable to disclose results to friends or relatives. Please ring in after 11.00 for results.
